Frina Design

Independent Contractor, Exhibit Designer and Developer August 2022- January 2023

I worked as an independent contractor for Frina Design to update and redesign the exhibit hall at Weedon Island Preserve Cultural and Natural History Center in Tampa Bay, Florida. I researched and designed a wall on climate change, conducted photo searches, put together photo inventories, storyboarded and created sample videos, designed and wrote digital interactives, and detailed exhibit components for fabricators. I also assisted with an exhibit redesign project for Brooker Creek Preserve researching artifacts and finding photo assets.

Digital interactive creation was a big part of my work and I researched, designed, and wrote various digital interactives on topics from watersheds, to the importance of fire in Florida ecosystems to biodiversity at Weedon Island.

I also conducted research on climate change issues and solutions in Pinellas County, Florida for a section of the redesigned exhibit hall. After researching climate change impacts and solutions, I wrote an outline for signage and interactives and created an elevation that reflects the design and signage for this section of the exhibit.

I also storyboarded and drafted videos for various sections of the exhibit on upland habitats and the importance of mangroves. This involved researching the topics, searching for stock footage, drafting a narrative, creating a sample video, and estimating video costs.

Other tasks have included researching and identifying photos for all exhibit signage, conducting inventories of decor and artifacts, and talking with a local researcher about climate change.

In addition to research and design, I detailed exhibit structures and components for fabricators. This involved using CADTools software to detail measurements for walls, exhibit interactives, and signage. I also built a 3D model of the exhibit hall to check the flow of exhibit structures and materials.
